NFL players kneeling in patriotic protest

This got passed to me, but the author got stripped off. It's one of those thinfs I wish I had written.

--

The NFL players are people expressing their Constitutional rights of free speech. Their private corporate employers can fire them, or not, since doing so is not a violation of the First Amendment. In contrast, the President of the United States speaking to squelch their First Amendment rights, and - again - using inflammatory language to do so, skirts the issue - again - of violating the Constitution, and - again - diminishes the Oval Office.

The root problem is inequality in America. The root problem is the rich and powerful exploiting the government of the people, by the people, for the people to oppress and abuse the people, rather than to serve the people.

In classic Orwellian fashion, the rich and powerful have again exploited the media machine to manipulate the people into some stupid argument about who is a "real patriot," and so we bicker and swagger about "who's a good boy" (or girl, or non-binary gender identifier), instead of being smart and recognizing the root problem: that billionaires are yanking our chains, like dogs, to get us to fight with each other, while they steal our money and our rights, and call us ungrateful slobs for not thanking them.

Meanwhile, the flag is a symbol that gets misused daily, and the National anthem is a song that most people can barely sing only when someone plays it for them. The idea that "real patriots" kow-tow to a government that most of them bitch and whine is "too invasive," and "out to get them," is insane.

Anti-Anti-Fascists? You're kind of an asshole

Mocking the Meme here. This is important, that you understand I'm mocking the meme.

It always amazes me the self-absorbed, self-important mindset required to whine about protests against people whose core belief is "Those darkies ain't human! Jews should be burned to death! They ain't people! Only us special white snowflakes are people with rights!"

"Anti-Anti-Fascists" Really? So, you're saying you support Nazis and Fascists? That's nice. You life hating asshole.

#PunchANazi

And, by the way, "free speech" is most usually legally defined as "government officials cannot stop you from expression whatever the fuck you want."

That is very different than "people who disgaree with you can also exercise their rights to tell you to shut the fuck up."

That is not the same as "censorship," or "repression," in the way people always scream it is (that is, screaming "My rights I'd free speech are repressed! Whine whine!"). On the contrary, it is often the very essence of "free market capitalism" at work.

Zak Smith?

Who the crap is Zak Smith, and should I care?

A lot of my gamer friends are talking about this guy - AGAIN! He's like some kind of cyclical force of nature that stirs up shit every couple of months, or something. Why the crap does he have so much influence?

No, I don't want to Google him. That's too damn much noise. I want to hear from you! Because I care about you, and I value the distilled thoughts in your head.

I'm back

Fuck all if I know where to start.  What the fuck is wrong with humanity? Fucking hurricanes killing Americans (and remember, kids, Puerto Ricans are Americans) right and left and people are bitching about NFL players kneeling at the same time assholes are in the beer line?

And "we ain't racist, fuck you libtard" Alabama chooses the most unethical, twice-disgraced, endorsed by the guy-too-Nazi-even-for-the-Trump-White-House dude as the GOP candidate for Senate?

Americans have lost their fucking marbles. But, hey, why not? They shit their ethics and morality down the toilet last November, why not throw out the marbles, too?

The main problem with trying to ignore the world is that the world doesn't respect that. It's like trying to ignore Internet trolls and bullies. They just take it as a challenge and try harder to get your attention by being  even bigger pricks about it.

Well, fuck you, world. Female voices may be fleeing the Internet, due to the exhaustion of harassment and rape-death threats, but this bitch got her password sorted out, and you can bite my tight ass again.

Fiction Friday - TitanLil - the broken remnants of Titanium Lilly

TitanLil (formerly Titanium Lilly)

Terrible things can happen to even the most stalwart mind after being held prisoner for a year by a psychotic torturer who revels in forcing his victims to consume their own flesh in order to avoid worse torments.

It would be unkind and wrong to describe Lilly's mind as merely "damaged." What's left today is definitely cunning, and cruel, but more alien than human.

(see also this post for my speculation on this freaky-ass image)

TitanLil - Villains & Vigilantes

Strength 24, Endurance 33, Intelligence 15, Agility 13, Charisma 11, 120 lbs., level 6

Basic Hits 3; Hit Mod. (2.0) (4.2) (1.2) (1.3) = 13.104; Hit Points 39; Power 85; Move 70" ground; Accuracy +1; Damage Mod. +1; Heal 3.0; Detect Hidden 8%; Detect Danger 12%; Carrying Capacity 1027 lbs.; Basic HTH 1d10

Metal Summoning (Ice Powers) (x2): Identical to Ice Powers, but material does not "melt"; instead it persists automatically for E turns (PR=5, no action, to buy another E turns). The metal encasing a target does damage per turn by weight, crushing pressure (being too tight and constrictive) and spikes/rough edges on the interior.
She has trained and reduced the PR cost of this power to PR=3 per use (and PR=3 for maintenance).

Heightened Endurance B: +20

Heightened Senses: Just as she can see light, she can automatically detect all ferrous metals, quantity and type, within C/3 inches (round up). She only has to pay attention and she knows.

Heightened Strength A: +10

Magnetic Powers: She has trained and reduced the PR cost of this power to PR=3 per use (and PR=3 for maintenance).

Sidekick: An apparently normal 14 year-old boy named Yun.  How he got connected to TitanLil has not been revealed. Their relationship is weird, and dynamic, but he appears to worship her, even as he is terrified of her.  He is definitely her servant, and he usually correctly interprets her wishes. He helps her dress, bathe, and acts as her mouthpiece, speaking because she doesn't.  He sometimes appears to be listening to something no one else can hear, as if she is talking to him.  He appears afraid of her, even though she has never been observed to hurt him. In fact, she once destroyed an Intercrime base after TitanLil found out that an agent punched Yun in the head during a training exercise.

Diminished Senses: She only has one eye. -4 "to hit" with all ranged attacks, and -4% Detection rolls.

Lowered Intelligence: -6.  Her mind is shattered, and her behavior often appears alien.  The only telepath known to have tried reading her shattered mind said "What's left is definitely human, and that makes it worse!" before he stunned the interviewers and fled, getting lost somewhere in undeveloped China.

Willpower:  The insanity that drives her makes her physically and mentally more resilient.  She can use this for variable benefits, and also defense. PR=1 per use as defense.

Mute:  She never talks. It is unrevealed if this is a physical, or mental, deformity.
